Surah Al-Furqan • Ayah 6

What the Disbelievers said about the Qur'anAllah tells us about the foolishness of the disbelievers' ignorant minds, when they said about the Qur'an:إِنْ هَـذَا إِلاَّ إِفْكٌ(This is nothing but a lie), meaning an untruth.افْتَرَاهُ(that he has invented,) meaning the Prophet .وَأَعَانَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ ءَاخَرُونَ(and others have helped him in it.) means, he asked other people to help him compile it. So Allah said:فَقَدْ جَآءُوا ظُلْماً وَزُوراً(In fact, they have produced an unjust wrong and a lie.) meaning, they are the ones who are telling a lie, and they know that it is false, for their own souls know that what they are claiming is not true.وَقَالُواْ أَسَـطِيرُ الاٌّوَّلِينَ اكْتَتَبَهَا(And they say: "Tales of the ancients which he has written down...") meaning, the ancients wrote them down, and he has copied it.فَهِىَ تُمْلَى عَلَيْهِ(and they are dictated to him) means, they are read or recited to him.بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلاً(morning and afternoon. ) at the beginning and end of the day. Because this idea is so foolish and is so patently false, everyone knows that it is not true. It is known through Mutawatir reports and is a common fact that Muhammad ﷺ the Messenger of Allah never learned to read or write, either at the beginning or the end of his life. He grew up among them for approximately forty years, from the time he was born until the time when his mission began. They knew all about him, and about his honest and sound character and how he would never lie or do anything immoral or bad. They even used to call him Al-Amin (the Trustworthy One) from a young age, until his mission began, because they saw how truthful and honest he was. When Allah honored him with that which He honored him, they declared their enmity towards him and came up with all these accusations which any reasonable person would know he was innocent of. They were not sure what to accuse him of. Sometimes they said that he was a sorcerer, at other times they would say he was a poet, or crazy, or a liar. So Allah said:انْظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُواْ لَكَ الاٌّمْثَالَ فَضَلُّواْ فَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعْونَ سَبِيلاً(See what examples they have put forward for you. So they have gone astray, and never can they find a way.) (17:48) In response to their stubbornness, Allah says here:قُلْ أَنزَلَهُ الَّذِى يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ فِى السَّمَـوَتِ وَالاٌّرْضِ(Say: "It has been sent down by Him Who knows the secret of the heavens and the earth".) meaning, He has revealed the Qur'an which includes true information about the earlier and later generations, information which concurs with the realities of the past and future.الَّذِى يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ(Who knows the secret) means, Allah is the One Who knows the unseen in the heavens and on the earth; He knows their secrets just as He knows what is visible therein.إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفُوراً رَّحِيماً(Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.) This is an invitation to them to repent and turn back to Allah, telling them that His mercy is vast and His patience is immense. Whoever repents to Him, He accepts his repentance. Despite all their lies, immorality, falsehood, disbelief and stubbornness, and saying what they said about the Messenger and the Qur'an, He still invites them to repent and give up their sin, and to come to Islam and true guidance. This is like the Ayat:لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُواْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ ثَـلِثُ ثَلَـثَةٍ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـهٍ إِلاَّ إِلَـهٌ وَحِدٌ وَإِن لَّمْ يَنتَهُواْ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ لَيَمَسَّنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ - أَفَلاَ يَتُوبُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَهُ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ(Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three." But there is no god but One God. And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall on the disbelievers among them. Will they not turn with repentance to Allah and ask His forgiveness For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.) (5:73-74)إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَـتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ(Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women, and then do not turn in repentance, then they will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire.) (85:10) Al-Hasan Al-Basri said: "Look at this kindness and generosity! They killed His friends and He is calling them to repentance and mercy."

خود فریب مشرک ٭٭خود فریب مشرکین ایک جہالت اوپر کی آیتوں میں بیان ہوئی۔ جو ذات الٰہی کی نسبت تھی۔ یہاں دوسری جہالت بیان ہو رہی ہے جو ذات رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی نسبت کہ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ اس قرآن کو تو اس نے اوروں کی مدد سے خود ہی جھوٹ موٹ گھڑ لیا ہے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے یہ ان کا ظلم اور جھوٹ ہے جس کے باطل ہونے کا خود انہیں بھی علم ہے۔ جو کچھ کہتے ہیں وہ خود اپنی معلومات کے بھی خلاف کہتے ہیں۔ کبھی ہانک لگانے لگتے ہیں کہ اگلی کتابوں کے قصے اس نے لکھوا لئے ہیں، وہی صبح شام اس کی مجلس میں پڑھے جا رہے ہیں۔ یہ جھوٹ وہ ہے جس میں کسی کو کوئی شک نہ ہو سکے۔ اس لیے کہ صرف اہل مکہ ہی نہیں بلکہ دنیا جانتی ہے کہ ہمارے نبی امی تھے نہ لکھنا جانتے تھے نہ پڑھنا۔ چالیس سال کی نبوت سے پہلے کی زندگی آپ نے انہی لوگوں میں گزاری تھی اور وہ اس طرح کہ اتنی مدت میں ایک واقعہ بھی آپ کی زندگی میں یا ایک لمحہ بھی ایسا نہ تھا جس پر انگلی اٹھا سکے۔ ایک ایک وصف آپ کا وہ تھا جس پر زمانہ شیدا تھا جس پر اہل مکہ رشک کرتے تھے۔ آپ کی عام مقبولیت اور محبوبیت، بلند اخلاق اور خوش معاملگی اتنی بڑھی ہوئی تھی کہ ہر ایک دل میں آپ کے لیے جگہ تھی۔ عام زبانیں آپ کو محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم امین کے پیارے خطاب سے پکارتی تھیں، دنیا آپ کے قدموں تلے آنکھیں بچھاتی تھی۔ کون سا دل تھا جو محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا گھر نہ ہو، کون سی آنکھ تھی جس میں احمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی عزت نہ ہو؟ کون سا مجمع تھا جس میں آپ کا ذکر خیر نہ ہو؟ کون وہ شخص تھا جو آپ کی بزرگی، صداقت، امانت، نیکی اور بھلائی کا قائل نہ ہو؟صفحہ نمبر6005پھر جب کہ اللہ کی بلند ترین عزت سے آپ معزز کئے گئے۔ آسمانی وحی کے آپ امین بنائے گئے تو صرف باپ دادوں کی روش کو پامال ہوتے ہوئے دیکھ کر یہ بےوقوف بےپیندے لوٹے کی طرح لڑھک گئے، تھالی کے بینگن کی طرح ادھر سے ادھر ہو گئے، لگے باتیں بنانے، اور عیب جوئی کرنے لیکن جھوٹ کے پاؤں کہاں؟ کبھی آپ کو شاعر کہتے، کبھی ساحر اور کبھی کذاب۔ حیران تھے کہ کیا کہیں اور کس طرح اپنی جاہلانہ روش کو باقی رکھیں اور اپنے معبودان باطل کے جھنڈے اوندھے نہ ہونے دیں اور کس طرح ظلم کدہ دنیا کو نور الہٰی سے نہ جگمگانے دیں؟ اب انہیں جواب ملتا ہے کہ قرآن کی سچی حقائق پہ مبنی اور سچی خبریں اللہ کی دی ہوئی ہیں جو علام الغیوب ہے، جس سے ایک ذرہ پوشیدہ نہیں کہ اس میں ماضی کے بیان سبھی سچ ہیں۔ جو آئندہ کی خبر اس میں ہے وہ بھی سچ ہے۔ اللہ کے سامنے ہو چکی ہوئی اور ہونے والی بات یکساں ہے۔ وہ غیب کو بھی اسی طرح جانتا ہے جس طرح ظاہر کو۔ اس کے بعد اپنی شان غفاریت کو اور شان رحم و کرم کو بیان فرمایا تاکہ بدلوگ بھی اس سے مایوس نہ ہوں۔ کچھ بھی کیا ہو، اب بھی اس کی طرف جھک جائیں، توبہ کریں، اپنے کئے پر پچھتائیں۔ نادم ہوں، اور رب کی رضا چاہیں۔صفحہ نمبر6006رحمت رحیم کے قربان جائیے کہ ایسے سرکش و دشمن، اللہ و رسول پر بہتان باز، اس قدر ایذائیں دینے والے لوگوں کو بھی اپنی عام رحمت کی دعوت دیتا ہے اور اپنے کرم کی طرف انہیں بلاتا ہے۔ وہ اللہ کو برا کہیں، وہ رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو برا کہیں، وہ کلام اللہ پر باتیں بنائیں اور اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں اپنی رحمت کی طرف رہنمائی کرے، اپنے فضل و کرم کی طرف دعوت دے، اسلام اور ہدایت ان پر پیش کرے، اپنی بھلی باتیں ان کو سجھائے اور سمجھائے۔ چنانچہ اور آیت میں عیسائیوں کی تثلیث پرستی کا ذکر کر کے ان کی سزا کا بیان کرتے ہوئے فرمایا «اَفَلَا يَتُوْبُوْنَ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوْنَهٗ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ» [5-المائدة:74] ‏ ” یہ لوگ کیوں اللہ سے توبہ نہیں کرتے؟ اور کیوں اس کی طرف جھک کر اس سے اپنے گناہوں کی معافی طلب نہیں کرتے؟ وہ تو بڑا ہی بخشنے والا اور بہت ہی مہربان ہے۔ “ مومنوں کو ستانے اور انہیں فتنے میں ڈالنے والوں کا ذکر کر کے سورۃ البروج میں فرمایا کہ اگر ایسے لوگ بھی توبہ کر لیں، اپنے برے کاموں سے ہٹ جائیں، باز آئیں تو میں بھی ان پر سے اپنے عذاب ہٹالوں گا اور رحمتوں سے نواز دونگا۔ امام حسن بصری رحمہ اللہ نے کیسے مزے کی بات بیان فرمائی ہے۔ آپ فرماتے ہیں: اللہ کے رحم و کرم کو دیکھو، یہ لوگ اس کے نیک چہیتے بندوں کو ستائیں، ماریں، پیٹیں، قتل کریں اور وہ انہیں توبہ کی طرف اور اپنے رحم و کرم کی طرف بلائے! «فسبحانہ ما اعظم شانہ» ۔صفحہ نمبر6007

آیت 5 وَقَالُوْٓا اَسَاطِیْرُ الْاَوَّلِیْنَ اکْتَتَبَہَا ”کَتَبَ یَکْتُبُ : لکھنا۔ اس سے اِکْتَتَبَ باب افتعال ہے ‘ یعنی کسی سے لکھوا لینا۔فَہِیَ تُمْلٰی عَلَیْہِ بُکْرَۃً وَّاَصِیْلًا ”ان کے پیچھے خفیہ طور پر جو لوگ یہ قصے کہانیاں گھڑ رہے ہیں وہ صبح شام ان سے ملتے ہیں اور اپنی گھڑی ہوئی باتیں انہیں لکھوا دیتے ہیں۔ پھر وہی باتیں یہ ہمیں سنا کر دھونس جماتے ہیں کہ مجھ پر وحی آئی ہے۔

CommentaryFrom this point onward the objections raised by infidels and polytheists against the Holy Qur'an and the prophethood of the Holy Prophet ﷺ are related together with the answers to those objections.The first objection was that the Qur'an was not a revealed book from Allah Ta’ ala, but has been compiled from the old stories and narrations by the Jews and Christians which have been reduced into writing by the Companions of the Holy Prophet ﷺ ، since he himself was illiterate and could not write. And because he could not read or write, he would get them read out to him day and night, so that he could remember them by heart, then he would repeat them before people and claim that he had received that revelation from Allah Ta’ ala.The answer to this objection was given by the Holy Qur’ an قُلْ أَنزَلَهُ الَّذِي يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ‌ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْ‌ضِ , that is (Say, "It is sent down by the One who knows the secret in the heavens and the earth - 25:6).The essence of this answer is that the Qur'an itself is an evidence to the fact that it is the Divine message from Him who is Omniscient and who knows fully well all the secrets of the Heavens and the earth. This is why Qur'an is a miraculous Message, and the whole world is challenged to bring out a Surah or even a verse to match it, if its divine origin is refused. This was a challenge to a people - the Arabs - who were well known for their literary proficiency and art of expression, and for whom composition of a piece of literature was not a problem. But they too did not dare to attempt to compose something similar to Qur’ an. Although they were willing to sacrifice all their material wealth for opposing the Holy Prophet ﷺ in his mission, so much so that they were willing to sacrifice even their children and their own lives to counter the Holy Prophet ﷺ mission and message, but they dared not attempt to compose a passage similar to a Surah of the Qur'an.This is a clear proof of the fact that it is not a work of a human being. Otherwise other people could also have composed passages similar to Qur'an. Therefore, it is definitely the revelation from Allah Ta ala. Apart from the beauty of expression and language, the Book also excels in its meanings. The multifarious subjects it covers can only be dealt by One who knows everything whether hidden or exposed. This subject has been dealt with in detail in the first volume of Ma’ ariful Qur'an.
