Surah Al-Isra • Ayah 97

Guidance and Misguidance are in the Hands of AllahAllah tells us how He deals with His creation and how His rulings are carried out. He tells us that there is none who can put back His judgement, for whomever He guides cannot be led astray,وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِهِ(and whomever He leaves astray can never find helpers other than Him)to guide him. As Allah says:مَن يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُ وَلِيًّا مُّرْشِدًا(He whom Allah guides, he is the rightly-guided; but he whom He sends astray, for him you will find no Wali (guiding friend) to lead him) 18:17The Punishment of the People of Misguidanceوَنَحْشُرُهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَـمَةِ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ(and We shall gather them together on the Day of Resurrection on their faces,) Imam Ahmad recorded from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how will the people be gathered on their faces" He said,«الَّذِي أَمْشَاهُمْ عَلَى أَرْجُلِهِمْ قَادِرٌ عَلَى أَنْ يُمْشِيَهُمْ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِم»(The One Who made them walk on their feet is able to make them walk on their faces.) It was also reported (by Al-Bukhari and Muslim) in the Two Sahihs.عُمْيًا(blind) means, unable to see.وَبُكْمًا(dumb) means, unable to speak.وَصُمًّا(deaf) means, unable to hear. They will be in this state as a punishment for the way they were in this world, blind, dumb and deaf to the truth. This will be their recompense when they are gathered on the Day of Resurrection, at the time when they need these faculties most of all.مَأْوَاهُمُ(their abode) means, their destination.جَهَنَّمُ كُلَّمَا خَبَتْ(will be Hell; whenever it abates,) Ibn `Abbas said, "(This means) calms down," Mujahid said, (It means) is extinguished,"زِدْنَاهُمْ سَعِيرًا(We shall increase for them the fierceness of the Fire.) meaning, increasing its flames and heat and coals, as Allah says:فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلاَّ عَذَاباً (So taste you (the results of your evil actions). No increase shall We give you, except in torment.) (78:30)ذَلِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِـَايَـتِنَا وَقَالُواْ أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا وَرُفَاتًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا

میدان حشر کا ایک ہولناک منظر ٭٭اللہ تعالیٰ اس بات کو بیان فرماتا ہے کہ تمام مخلوق میں تصرف صرف اسی کا ہے، اس کا کوئی حکم ٹل نہیں سکتا، «مَن يَهْدِ اللَّـهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِ ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُ وَلِيًّا مُّرْشِدًا» [18-الكهف:17] ‏ ” اس کے راہ دکھائے ہوئے کو کوئی بہکا نہیں سکتا، نہ اس کے بہکائے ہوئے کی کوئی راہنمائی کر سکتا ہے “۔ اس کا ولی اور مرشد کوئی نہیں بن سکتا۔ ہم انہیں اوندھے منہ میدان قیامت (‏محشر کے مجمع) میں لائیں گے۔ مسند احمد میں ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سوال ہوا، یہ کیسے ہو سکتا ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا، جس نے پیروں پر چلایا ہے، وہ سر کے بل بھی چلا سکتا ہے۔ یہ حدیث بخاری و مسلم میں بھی ہے۔ [صحیح بخاری:4760] ‏صفحہ نمبر4814مسند میں ہے سیدنا ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کھڑے ہو کر فرمایا کہ اے بنی غفار قبیلے کے لوگو سچ کہو اور قسمیں نہ کھاؤ، صادق مصدوق پیغمبر نے مجھے یہ حدیث سنائی ہے کہ لوگ تین قسم کے بنا کر حشر میں لائے جائیں گے۔ ایک فوج تو کھانے پینے اوڑھنے والی، ایک چلنے اور دوڑنے والی، ایک وہ جنہیں فرشتے اوندھے منہ گھیسٹ کر جہنم کے سامنے جمع کریں گے۔ لوگوں نے کہا دو قسمیں تو سمجھ میں آ گئیں لیکن یہ چلنے اور دوڑنے والے سمجھ میں نہیں آئے۔ آپ نے فرمایا سواریوں پر آفت آ جائے گی یہاں تک کہ ایک انسان اپنا ہرا بھرا باغ دے کر پالان والی اونٹنی خریدنا چاہے گا لیکن نہ مل سکے گی۔ [مسند احمد:164/5:اسنادہ قوی] ‏ یہ اس وقت نابینا ہوں گے، بے زبان ہوں گے، کچھ بھی نہ سن سکیں گے، غرض مختلف حال ہوں گے اور گناہوں کی شامت میں گناہوں کے مطابق گرفتار کئے جائیں گے۔ دنیا میں حق سے اندھے بہرے اور گونگے بنے رہے، آج سخت احتیاج والے دن سچ مچ اندھے بہرے گونگے بنا دئیے گئے۔ ان کا اصلی ٹھکانا، گھوم پھر کر آنے اور رہنے سہنے بسنے ٹھہرنے کی جگہ جہنم قرار دی گئی۔ وہاں کی آگ جہاں مدھم پڑنے کو آئی اور بھڑکا دی گئی سخت تیز کر دی گئی۔ جیسے فرمایا آیت «‏فَذُوْقُوْا فَلَنْ نَّزِيْدَكُمْ اِلَّا عَذَابًا» ‏ [78-النبأ:30] ‏ ” یعنی اب سزا برداشت کرو۔ سوائے عذاب کے کوئی چیز تمہیں زیادہ نہ دی جائے گی۔ “صفحہ نمبر4815

آیت 96 قُلْ كَفٰى باللّٰهِ شَهِيْدًۢا بَيْنِيْ وَبَيْنَكُمْ رد و قدح بہت ہوچکی۔ اب میں یہ معاملہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے سپرد کرتا ہوں جو میرے اور تمہارے درمیان گواہ ہے۔ اب وہی فیصلہ کرے گا۔

In the last verse (95), it was said that they, despite being human, can-not demand that their messenger should be an angel. This demand was unreasonable. Yes, if angels had been living on the Earth and there was the need to send a messenger to them, then, indeed, an angel would have been sent as a messenger. It will be noted that the attribute of an-gels living on the Earth has been described here in the words: يَمْشُونَ مُطْمَئِنِّينَ (walking about in peace). This tells us that the need to send an angel deputed as a messenger to other angels would have come up only at a time when the angels of the Earth could not themselves go to the heavens rather remained living on the Earth alone. Otherwise, had they themselves possessed the power to go to the heavens, there would have remained just no need to send a messenger to the Earth.
