Surah Yusuf • Ayah 71

Yusuf had His Golden Bowl placed in Binyamin's Bag; a Plot to keep Him in EgyptAfter Yusuf supplied them with their provisions, he ordered some of his servants to place his silver bowl (in Binyamin's bag), according to the majority of scholars. Some scholars said that the king's bowl was made from gold. Ibn Zayd added that the king used it to drink from, and later, measured food grains with it since food became scarce in that time, according to Ibn `Abbas, Mujahid, Qatadah, Ad-Dahhak and `Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd. Shu`bah said that Abu Bishr narrated that Sa`id bin Jubayr said that Ibn `Abbas said that the king's bowl was made from silver and he used it to drink with. Yusuf had the bowl placed in Binyamin's bag while they were unaware, and then had someone herald, أَيَّتُهَا الْعِيرُ إِنَّكُمْ لَسَارِقُونَ(O you (in) the caravan! Surely, you are thieves!) They looked at the man who was heralding this statement and asked him, مَّاذَا تَفْقِدُونَقَالُواْ نَفْقِدُ صُوَاعَ الْمَلِكِ("What is it that you have lost" They said: "We have lost the bowl of the king..."), which he used to measure food grains, وَلِمَن جَآءَ بِهِ حِمْلُ بَعِيرٍ(and for him who produces it is a camel load), as a reward, وَأَنَاْ بِهِ زَعِيمٌ(and I will be bound by it.), as assurance of delivery of the reward.

بابجب آپ اپنے بھائیوں کو حسب عادت ایک ایک اونٹ غلے کا دینے لگے اور ان کا اسباب لدنے لگا تو اپنے چالاک ملازموں سے چپکے سے اشارہ کر دیا کہ چاندی کا شاہی کٹورا بنیامین کے اسباب میں چپکے سے رکھ دیں۔ بعض نے کہا ہے یہ کٹورا سونے کا تھا۔ اسی میں پانی پیا جاتا تھا اور اسی سے غلہ بھر کے دیا جاتا تھا بلکہ ویسا ہی پیالہ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے پاس بھی تھا۔ پس آپ کے ملازمین نے ہوشیاری سے وہ پیالہ آپ علیہ السلام کے بھائی بنیامین کی خورجی میں رکھ دیا۔ جب یہ چلنے لگے تو سنا کہ پیچھے سے منادی ندا کرتا آ رہا ہے کہ اے قافلے والو تم چور ہو۔ ان کے کان کھڑے، رک گئے، ادھر متوجہ ہوئے اور پوچھا کہ آپ کی کیا چیز کھو گئی ہے؟ جواب ملا کہ شاہی پیمانہ جس سے اناج ناپا جاتا تھا، سنو شاہی اعلان ہے کہ اس کے ڈھونڈ لانے والے کو ایک بوجھ غلہ ملے گا اور میں خود ضامن ہوں۔صفحہ نمبر4045

آیت 70 فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُمْ بِجَهَازِهِمْ جَعَلَ السِّقَايَةَ فِيْ رَحْلِ اَخِيْهِ یہ بادشاہ کا خصوصی جام تھا جو سونے کا بنا ہوا تھا۔ثُمَّ اَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ اَيَّــتُهَا الْعِيْرُ اِنَّكُمْ لَسٰرِقُوْنَ جب وہ قافلہ چل پڑا تو اسے روک لیا گیا کہ ہمارے ہاں سے کوئی چیز چوری ہوئی ہے اور ہمیں اس بارے میں تم لوگوں پر شک ہے۔

Verse 71 carries the response of the accused: قَالُوا وَأَقْبَلُوا عَلَيْهِم مَّاذَا تَفْقِدُونَ that is, ` the brothers of Yusuf turned to the announcer, as if protesting on being made into thieves, and asked him to say what is it that you seem to have lost.'
